Privacy and safety

Your stories should be joyful—not unexpectedly revealing.

Adventure Duck stores the information needed to keep a duck’s journal working: your verified email, chosen display name, stories, photos or short videos, the place shown with a story, and duck registrations.

Names and email

Your valid, verified email is required to register a duck. It is used to identify your account and is not displayed in journeys. For each story, you can show your full chosen name or initials.

Beta testing agreements

If you sign a beta testing NDA, we retain your full name, email address, typed signature, signing time, agreement version, and the exact agreement text you accepted. We use this information to administer and document the agreement and to email your signed copy. Signed agreement records may be retained as needed for legal and compliance purposes.

Marketing choices

You may optionally ask to receive DuckyTales promotions and fun marketing when registering a duck. This choice is not required to use the service. DuckyTales NEVER sells users’ data.

Website visit counts

DuckyTales keeps privacy-safe, first-party visit counts so administrators can understand which public pages are useful. We store the page path, visit time, referring website’s hostname, and a random per-tab session identifier. We do not store an IP address, email, precise location, advertising identifier, or cross-site tracking cookie with these counts. Repeat views of the same page within 30 minutes are counted once.

Movement alerts

For signed-in duck holders, DuckyTales stores the time you last acknowledged movement for each registered duck. This lets us show only newly published journey entries on your next visit. The alert history is tied to your account and is removed when your account or the related duck is deleted.

Location

If you choose current location, your device provides precise GPS coordinates. Adventure Duck sends those coordinates once to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service to identify the nearest city and uses them in memory to calculate that travel leg. Precise GPS is then discarded and is not stored. The journal keeps only the city-level location, miles added for the entry, and the duck’s running mileage. You can enter a city manually instead of using GPS.

Photos and videos

Photos are re-created before upload to remove embedded camera and GPS metadata. Public-duck media can be viewed by anyone with the journey link. Private-duck media is available only to signed-in group members. Owners and administrators can hide or delete inappropriate contributions.

Sharing and retention

A public duck is readable by anyone with its link. A private duck is available to registered contributors and people who accept an email invitation. Invitations are sent to the address entered by a journey member, expire after seven days, and must be accepted while signed in with that same address. Invited viewers can read the journey and memory book but cannot post or edit. We retain invitation delivery and acceptance records until the invitation is replaced, the related account is deleted, or the duck is deleted.

Deleted media is removed from active storage and is no longer served by Adventure Duck, although previously saved copies outside the service cannot be recalled.

Your choices

You can avoid GPS, use initials, remove selected media before publishing, and use My Ducks to download or permanently delete your Adventure Duck account information and contributions.
